Y qué más Honor para quienes lucharon por la Independencia de Centroamérica, del yugo español, qué mayores y mejores Representantes para recibir y recorrer con la Antorcha de la Libertad todo nuestro País.
La Antorcha que viene de Guatemala, pasa por El Salvador, por Honduras, ahora está aquí en Nicaragua, y luego irá a Costa Rica, los cinco Países que después de muchas luchas, de mucho dolor, de mucho sacrificio, de mucha opresión, porque nuestros Pueblos, nuestros Antepasados, de los cuales heredamos la Sangre Indígena que corre por nuestras venas, fueron víctimas de la explotación de los Conquistadores.
Y decía, qué mejor Honor en estos días, que la Antorcha venga en manos de l@s Jóvenes, de l@s Muchachos y Muchachas, Destacad@s Deportistas, destacad@s Estudiantes, y aquí esté esta Juventud rindiéndole Homenaje a la Antorcha de la Libertad, que cuánta sangre, cuánto dolor costó; y en este caso representando a tod@s l@s Jóvenes de nuestro País, a los Jóvenes de las Ciudades, del Campo, de Estudiantes, a tod@s, a tod@s, no hay excepción, Muchachos y Muchachas, l@s que están trabajando y l@s que están estudiando… ¡A tod@s!
Qué mejor Honor que esté entregando hoy la Antorcha aquí en esta Avenida De Bolívar a Chávez, y todos nuestros Héroes Nacionales ¡Esta es la Avenida de los Héroes! Y la hemos recibido de manos de Harvin Aguirre, Campeón 2024 de la Federación Centroamericana de Boxeo y de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo. ¡Felicidades! Esa es la Juventud nicaragüense destacándose en el Deporte, en la Ciencia, en la Cultura.
Lo acompañan Isayana Marenco, Atleta Olímpica en Disciplina de Judo, Campeona Centroamericana y Medallista Panamericana; Mejor Atleta Femenina Nacional de Judo, y participó en los Juegos Olímpicos del 2024; y Evidelia del Carmen González, Atleta de la Disciplina de Remo, Medallista de los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe 2023; participó en Juegos Olímpicos en 2024.
Para ellos, el Reconocimiento del Pueblo nicaragüense, para ellos, para sus Familias, para sus Pueblos, para Nicaragua entera… Nicaragua entera los felicita y les dice: ¡Qué Honor!
Y vean bien, escuchémonos bien: Aquí tenemos todos los días, todos los días, toda una campaña donde utilizan las Redes para hablar de confrontación, hablar de guerra, hablar de muerte. Nosotros les respondemos con la Paz, les respondemos con el Amor. Aquí está esta Juventud rindiéndole Homenaje a la Paz, a la Justicia, a la Educación, a la Libertad, hoy, en este Aniversario de la Independencia.
Y Centroamérica es el Punto de Unión del Continente, del Sur al Norte, del Norte al Sur; Centroamérica está, y Nicaragua está, en el centro del Cinturón que une a esas dos grandes Regiones del Norte, México, Canadá, Estados Unidos, y luego los Pueblos que liberó Bolívar en el Sur de Nuestramérica, empezando por la Heroica Venezuela… ¡Simón Bolívar, Libertad de Nuestramérica! Y las Batallas que libró Bolívar contribuyeron a la Independencia también aquí en Centroamérica.
Y bueno, se declaró la Independencia, un Decreto, allá en Guatemala, donde se declaró, después de múltiples luchas se declaró la Independencia de Centroamérica, y nacimos como una Unidad de Pueblos, Pueblos Unidos, los Pueblos Centroamericanos.
Luego, pasando por un proceso de adhesión de Centroamérica a México donde estaba el Imperio de Iturbide, Centroamérica se retiró, y se quedó; o sea, no se sometió al Imperio de Iturbide, sino que se mantuvo.
Y luego, con el paso del tiempo, estando unidos los Centroamericanos, empezó el proceso donde como que cada quien quería tomar su propio camino, y dejamos de ser la Gran Nación Centroamericana, la Gran República Centroamericana, y nacieron los Estados Independientes, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, y Nicaragua.
Es decir, con la Independencia logramos estar unidos, y luego, sometidos a los vaivenes de los Imperios, de repente nos fuimos separando. Y a tal grado llegó la separación entre las Naciones Centroamericanas que empezamos también a hacernos la guerra. Como decía Darío, en los Motivos del Lobo, Hermanos y Hermanas se hacían la guerra. Y eso pasó, guerras, guerras, guerras, y la Unidad cada día más frágil, la Unidad prácticamente desaparecía.
Pero luego, con el paso del tiempo, como que entrando en razón, logramos integrarnos los Estados Centroamericanos en un Sistema que conocemos como el SICA, el Sistema de Integración Centroamericana, que es, digamos, un paso importante que tendrá que ir caminando en la dirección, hasta que lleguemos a ser nuevamente una sola Nación Centroamericana, que seamos las Repúblicas Unidas de Centroamérica, y seremos más fuertes, más potentes, para luchar contra la Pobreza, contra la Miseria, por la Soberanía… ¡Seremos más Potentes!
Y esta es la etapa que estamos viviendo ahora, estamos viviendo la etapa, no solamente en Centroamérica, sino en toda América Latina, donde los Imperialistas de la Tierra quieren dividirnos, y donde los Pueblos, más allá de los Gobiernos, los Pueblos sí quieren a los Pueblos de otras Naciones. Los odios entre los Pueblos los fabrican los Imperios a través de Gobiernos que imponen.
Y estamos viendo las batallas que está librando América Latina, la Región Latinoamericana y Caribeña en estos momentos, las embestidas contra la República Bolivariana de Venezuela. Qué daño le ha hecho Venezuela a nuestros Pueblos, si solo beneficios trajo el Presidente-Comandante Hugo Chávez a nuestros Pueblos.
Aquí no había energía cuando llegamos al Gobierno, y vino Chávez, y cuando se enteró que no teníamos energía, unas Plantas de Energía que ellos estaban trayendo, importando para Venezuela, él dijo: ¡Qué se vengan ya para Nicaragua! Y vinieron las Plantas de Energía para Nicaragua, y allí empezaron a desaparecer los apagones que eran de todos los días en los años anteriores.
Ese fue el comportamiento de Venezuela con todos los Pueblos, Pueblos Hermanos, dándoles la mano a los Pobres, a los Campesinos, a la Juventud, a los Estudiantes, a los Deportistas.
Y precisamente, los que son egoístas, los Imperios, que quieren concentrar la riqueza en pocas manos, lógicamente el ejemplo de Chávez no era bueno para ellos, y por eso le hicieron la guerra, le dieron Golpe de Estado. Luego él continuó batallando con un Heroísmo increíble, porque ya con el cáncer atacándole, cómo Chávez seguía dando la batalla y nos acompañó aquí todavía. Nos acompañó aquí el 10 de Enero del 2012, y él no venía aquí a quitarnos nada, nos ayudaba con el combustible, con las Plantas de Energía, con óleel Petro.
O sea, las relaciones que desarrollaba Venezuela con estos Pueblos, él miró a los Pueblos más pobres de la Región, y vio a Centroamérica, y vio el Caribe, y fue hacia esos Pueblos para integrarlos en la Alianza Bolivariana de los Pueblos de Nuestramérica. ¿Para qué? Para ayudarle a esos Pueblos a salir de la miseria y de la pobreza. Nunca se ha establecido una Alianza con Venezuela para atacar a nadie, para declararle la guerra a nadie. ¡No! Nosotros lo que declaramos es la Paz, ¡es la Paz!
Y porque estamos en Paz estamos logrando realizar este Acto Hermoso, en Homenaje a quienes lucharon por la Independencia, hasta que se alcanzó la Independencia; a los que murieron en las cárceles de España, porque a los que luchaban por la Independencia los encarcelaban y se los llevaban presos a España. Y a los que han continuado luchando, luchando por la Paz.
Y hoy nosotros tenemos el Deber de seguir luchando por la Paz, por mucho que nos provoquen, por mucho que nos amenacen, por mucho que nos insulten, que nos calumnien, nosotros no vamos a echar un paso atrás, seguiremos llevándole Beneficios al Pueblo, y para eso es imprescindible la Paz, la Paz y la Paz.
Herman@s nicaragüenses, Familias nicaragüenses, en este día en que estamos recibiendo la Antorcha y cuando estamos a pocos días de conmemorar el Día de la Independencia, el 15 de Septiembre del año 1821 fue la Declaración de Independencia allá en Guatemala, el llamado que hacemos a l@s nicaragüenses que siguen pensando en hacer daño, es que hay que unir esfuerzos para que nos beneficiemos todos. Desde el más pobrecito, desde el que está en las condiciones económicas más difíciles, que pueda mejorar sus condiciones de Vida.
O sea, tenemos que erradicar la Pobreza, ese es un compromiso que tenemos con nuestro Pueblo, que tenemos con los Héroes y Mártires que han venido luchando por la Independencia: Acabar con la Pobreza, acabar con la Miseria; multiplicar más Escuelas, como las venimos multiplicando; multiplicar Universidades, como las venimos multiplicando, para que todos los Muchachos y Muchachas, independientemente de su condición económica y social, tengan la oportunidad de estudiar, gratuitamente, Carreras Científicas, Carreras Universitarias.
A los Hermanos Pueblos Centroamericanos el Abrazo Fraterno del Pueblo nicaragüense, para todos los Pueblos de Centroamérica, porque somos Herman@s, somos una sola Familia, y llegará el día en que seremos una sola Patria Centroamericana.
¡Que Viva la Independencia de Centroamérica!
Vamos a entregarles la Antorcha a ustedes; entregarle la Antorcha a ellos que van a continuar y luego se la entregan a otros Hermanos, es entregarle la Antorcha a la Juventud nicaragüense, entregarle la Antorcha al Pueblo de Nicaragua.
Fíjense, Estudiantes todos ellos, están estudiando y ellos no quieren guerra, la Juventud no quiere guerra, quiere Paz, quiere estudiar en Paz, quiere trabajar en Paz. Vamos a entregarle a ella la Antorcha para que continúen con el recorrido.

Nicaraguan Brothers and Sisters, Nicaraguan Youth “Youth, Divine Treasure” as our great Rubén Darío said so well. And what more honor for those who fought for the independence of Central America from the Spanish yoke, what greater or better Representatives to receive and carry forward the Torch of Freedom through our Country.
The Torch that set out from Guatemala, passing through El Salvador, Honduras, is now here in Nicaragua, and later it will go on to Costa Rica, the five Countries which after many struggles, much pain, much sacrifice, much oppression, because our Peoples, our Ancestors, from whom we inherit the Indigenous Blood that runs through our veins, were victims of the exploitation of the Conquistadors.
So as I was saying, what better Honor in these days, than for the Torch to come via the hands of Young People, young men and women, Outstanding Athletes, outstanding Students, and here this Youth pays Tribute to the Torch of Freedom, for so much blood, so much pain it has cost; and in this case representing all the Young People of our Country, Young People of the Cities, of the Countryside, Students, everyone, everyone, without exception, Young Men and Women, those who are working and those who are studying… Everyone!
What better honor than this, as I hand over the Torch today here on this Avenue Bolívar to Chávez, of all our National Heroes. This is the Avenue of Heroes! And we have received it from the hands of Harvin Aguirre, 2024 Champion of the Central American Boxing Federation and the World Boxing Association. Congratulations! This is Nicaragua’s Youth excelling in Sports, in Science, in Culture.
He is accompanied by Isayana Marenco, Olympic Athlete in the discipline of Judo, Central American Champion and Pan American Medalist; Best National Female Judo Athlete, who participated in the 2024 Olympic Games; and Evidelia del Carmen González, Athlete of the Rowing Discipline, Medalist of the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games; who also participated in the Olympic Games of 2024.
For them, the Recognition of the Nicaraguan People, for them, for their Families, for their People, for the whole of Nicaragua… The whole of Nicaragua congratulates them and says: What an honor!
Now do give attention and let us listen well to each other: Here we have every day, every single day, a whole offensive using the social networks to talk about confrontation, to talk about war, to talk about death. We respond with peace, we respond with love. And thus here are these Young People paying Tribute to Peace, Justice, Education, Freedom, today, on this Anniversary of Independence.
For Central America is the Point of Union of the Continent, from South to North, from North to South; Central America is, and Nicaragua is, at the center of the belt uniting those two great Regions, the North, Mexico, Canada and the United States, and then the Peoples that Bolívar liberated in the South of Our America, starting with the Heroic Venezuela… Simon Bolívar, the Freedom of Our America! For those Battles that Bolívar fought contributed also to independence here in Central America.
And, well, Independence was declared, a Decree, there in Guatemala, where the Independence of Central America was declared, after multiple struggles it was declared, and we were born as a Union of Peoples, United Peoples, the Central American Peoples.
Then, after going through a process of Central America acceding to Mexico where the Iturbide Empire prevailed, Central America withdrew, and stayed apart; that is to say, it did not submit to the Iturbide Empire, but remained apart.
And then, with the passage of time, with the Central Americans being united, the process began where, as it were, everyone wanted to go their own way, and we ceased to be the great Central American Nation, the great Central American Republic, such that the independent States were born, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua.
That is, with Independence we managed to be united, and then, subjected to the ups and downs of Empires, suddenly we were separated. And the separation between the Central American Nations reached such a degree that we also began to make war on each other. As Darío said, in “Motives of the Wolf”, Brothers and Sisters made war on each other. And that happened, war after war after war, and the Union became more fragile every day, the Union in practice disappeared.
But then, over time, as if coming to our senses, we managed to integrate the Central American States into a System that we know as the SICA, the Central American Integration System, which is, we can say, an important step in order to go towards becoming once more a single Central American Nation, so that we become the United Republics of Central America, for us to be stronger, more powerful combating Poverty, against Misery and for Sovereignty… We will be more powerful!
And this is the stage that we are living through now, we are living through this stage, not only in Central America, but throughout Latin America, where the Imperialists of the Earth want to divide us, and where the Peoples, above and beyond their Governments, the Peoples do indeed love the Peoples of other Nations. Hatred between Peoples is manufactured by empires by means of the governments they impose.
And we can see the battles Latin America, the Latin American and Caribbean Region, is waging right now, the attacks against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. What harm has Venezuela done to our Peoples? When President-Comandante Hugo Chávez brought only benefits to our Peoples.
There was no energy here when we came to the government, but Chávez visited and when he learned that we had no energy, he said that some Power Plants they were bringing, importing for Venezuela,: Let them come now for Nicaragua! And the Power Plants did come to Nicaragua, and so the blackouts that took place every day in earlier years began to disappear.
That was the behavior of Venezuela with all Peoples, Brother and Sister Peoples, embracing the Poor, Peasants, Youth, Students, Athletes.
And precisely for those who are selfish, the empires, who want to concentrate wealth in a few hands, naturally the example of Chávez was not good for them, and that’s why they made war on him and dealt him a coup d’état. Then he continued to fight with an incredible Heroism, because already the cancer was attacking him, but how indeed Chavez did keep fighting the battle and now accompanies us here still. He was with us here on January 10th 2012, but he wasn’t coming here to take anything from us, he was helping us with fuel, with power plants, with oil.
So you see the relations Venezuela was developing with our Peoples, he looked at the poorest Peoples of the Region, and he saw Central America, and he saw the Caribbean, and he went to those Peoples to integrate them into the Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of Our America. What for? So as to help these Peoples get out of misery and poverty. No Alliance has ever been established with Venezuela to attack anyone, to declare war on anyone. No! What we declare is Peace, it is Peace!
And because we are at Peace we are able to carry out this Beautiful Celebration in Tribute to those who fought for Independence, until Independence was achieved; to those who died in the prisons of Spain, because those who fought for Independence were imprisoned and taken prisoner to Spain. And in Tribute to those who have continued to fight, but fighting for Peace.
And today we have the Duty to continue fighting for Peace, no matter how much they provoke us, no matter how much they threaten us, no matter how much they insult us and slander us, we are not going to take one step back, we will continue to bring Benefits to the People, and for that Peace, Peace and again Peace is essential.
Nicaraguan Brothers and Sisters, Nicaraguan Families, on this day when we are receiving the Torch and when we are a just few days away from commemorating Independence Day, September 15th 1821 which saw the Declaration of Independence there in Guatemala, the call we make to Nicaraguans who keep thinking about doing harm, is that we must join efforts so that we may all benefit. From the very poorest, from the person who is in the most difficult economic conditions but who can improve their living conditions.
That is to say, we have to eradicate Poverty, this is a commitment that we have with our People, that we have with the Heroes and Martyrs who have fought for Independence: To end Poverty, to end Misery; to multiply more Schools, as we have been multiplying them; to multiply Universities, as we have been multiplying them, so that all Young Men and Women, regardless of their economic and social status, have the opportunity to study for free, Scientific Careers, University Careers.
To the Brothers and Sisters of the Central American Peoples, the Fraternal Embrace of the Nicaraguan People, for all the Peoples of Central America, because we are Brothers and Sisters, we are one Family, and the day will come when we will be one Central American Nation.
Long live the Independence of Central America!
We are going to hand the Torch to you; handing the Torch to those who are going to continue on and give it to other Brothers and Sisters, this is to give the Torch to Nicaragua’s Youth, to give the Torch to the People of Nicaragua.
You see, all of these students, they are studying and they do not want war, Young People do not want war, they want Peace, they want to study in Peace, they want to work in Peace. Now we are going to give this young woman the Torch so it can continue on its journey.
