El Gobierno de Reconciliación y Unidad Nacional participó en la 26 Conferencia de las partes de la Convención marco de Naciones Unidas sobre cambio climático (COP 26).

MENSAJE DEL GOBIERNO DE RECONCILIACIÓN Y UNIDAD NACIONAL DE NICARAGUA EN LA 26 CONFERENCIA DE LAS PARTES DE LA CONVENCIÓN MARCO DE NACIONES UNIDAS SOBRE CAMBIO CLIMÁTICO (COP 26). SEGMENTO DE ALTO NIVEL.

  • Señor Presidente de la COP 26
  • Estimados Ministros, Viceministros, Jefes de Delegación y Delegados.
  1. Transmitimos el fraterno saludo del Presidente de la República de Nicaragua, Comandante Daniel Ortega Saavedra, y de la Compañera Vice-Presidenta Rosario Murillo, a todos los Pueblos y Gobiernos aquí representados.
  1. Nicaragua no ha causado la Crisis Climática, tampoco lo ha hecho Centroamérica. Esto es responsabilidad histórica de las grandes economías que aplican modelos de consumo y producción basados en la contaminación de la Madre Tierra.
  1. Nicaragua cree firmemente en el multilateralismo para abordar la Crisis Climática, la Crisis de Valores, porque ya el Cambio Climático es historia. Vivimos una real crisis climática que amenaza la existencia de la humanidad.
  1. Si continuamos sin resolver y dar una respuesta efectiva a la crisis climática, la Humanidad podría enfrentarse de manera inexorable a su propia extinción.
  1. El problema es claro: 10 países industrializados emiten el 83% de las emisiones globales, mientras que los 100 países de menores emisiones, representan tan sólo el 3%.
  1. Nuestra Madre Tierra agoniza:
  • Las concentraciones de Dióxido de Carbono se encuentran en sus valores máximos en los últimos 2000 años: 420 Partes Por Millón (Siendo la norma máxima 320 Partes por Millón).
  • Se están emitiendo a la atmósfera más de 59 mil millones de toneladas de dióxido de carbono (Siendo la norma máxima 14 mil millones).
  • Tenemos ya incrementos globales de temperatura de 1,1 grados celcius.

Señor presidente,

7. Esta crisis climática global, con impacto local, requiere una respuesta del más alto nivel político, especialmente de parte de quienes causan el Cambio Climático.

 

8. Nicaragua ha presentado cuatro Declaraciones ante esta COP, que son vitales para los esfuerzos globales para revertir los efectos catastróficos del cambio climático:

  • Declaración de Centroamérica y el Caribe como región altamente vulnerable a eventos climáticos extremos.
  • Declaración para elevar Pérdidas y Daños a la misma categoría de Mitigación y Adaptación.
  • Declaración sobre la Urgencia de Preservar y Recuperar los Bosques, por eso nos adherimos en la COP 26 a la Declaración Mundial por conservar los Bosques.
  • Declaración sobre la Justicia Climática con Reparación, como la base del principio de Responsabilidades Comunes pero Diferenciadas y Capacidades Respectivas.

Señor Presidente,

9. Las ilegales Medidas Coercitivas Unilaterales deben cesar de inmediato, para garantizar estabilidad, Paz, cumplimiento de las metas climáticas, respetando el legítimo Derecho al Desarrollo de las familias, pueblos y naciones del mundo.

10. El pasado Domingo 7 de noviembre el Pueblo de Nicaragua demostró una vez
más su profunda vocación por la Paz y la Democracia, al haber celebrado en un ambiente de orden y armonía eleccioneslibres, justas y soberanas, mediante las cuales decidió continuar siendo una Patria Libre, Soberana e Independiente, teniendo siempre como eje central al Ser Humano, la erradicación de la pobreza y la protección y defensa de nuestra Madre Tierra.

11. Taiwán está firmemente comprometido en combatir el cambio climático y está respondiendo activamente al impulso global de cero emisiones netas para el 2050, por lo tanto, expresamos nuestro apoyo para que Taiwán sea incluido en los mecanismos de negociación climática de la Convención CMNUCC y el Acuerdo París

12. Nicaragua tiene la convicción de que la manera más efectiva de enfrentar la crisis climática, es luchar contra la pobreza, con desarrollo humano, mejorar la productividad bajo enfoques sostenibles y un clima de cooperación y colaboración respetuosa entre los Estados y Sociedades.

13. La presencia de toda la Comunidad Internacional, sin exclusiones, en esta COP 26 es vital para lograr un mundo de Entendimiento, Paz, Justicia, Solidaridad y Desarrollo Sostenible, en Equilibrio con la Naturaleza.

  • President of The COP 26

 

  • Dear Ministers, Vice Ministers, Heads of Delegation and Delegates.

 

  1. We convey the Fraternal Greeting of the President of the Republic of Nicaragua, Comandante Daniel Ortega Saavedra, and Comrade Vice-President, Rosario Murillo, to all the Peoples and Governments here-within represented.

 

  1. Nicaragua has not caused the Climate Crisis, neither has Central America. This is the historical responsibility of the large economies that apply consumption and production models based on the contamination of Mother Earth.

 

  1. Nicaragua firmly believes in multilateralism to address the Climate Crisis, which is a Crisis of Values, because Climate Change is already history. We are living a real climate crisis that threatens the existence of humanity.

 

  1. If we continue without solving this climate crisis and fail to provide an effective response, Humanity could inexorably face its own extinction.

 

  1. The problem is clear: 10 industrialized countries emit 83% of global emissions, while the 100 countries, with the lowest emissions, represent only 3%.

 

  1. Our Mother Earth is agonizing:

 

  • Carbon Dioxide concentrations are at their maximum values ​​in the last 2000 years: 420 Parts Per Million (The maximum norm being 320 Parts per Million).

 

  • More than 59 billion tons of carbon dioxide are being emitted into the atmosphere (the maximum standard being 14 billion).

 

 

  • We already have global temperature increases of 1.1 degrees celcius.

 

 

Mr. President,

 

  1. This global climate crisis, with its local impacts, requires a response at the highest political level, especially from those who cause Climate Change.

 

  1. Nicaragua has submitted four Declarations to this COP, which are vital to global efforts to reverse the catastrophic effects of climate change:

 

  • Declaration of Central America and the Caribbean as a region highly vulnerable to extreme weather events.

 

  • Declaration to raise Losses and Damages to the same category of Mitigation and Adaptation.

 

  • Declaration on the Urgency of Preserving and Recovering Forests, which is why we adhered at COP 26, to the World Declaration for Conserving Forests.

 

  • Declaration on Climate Justice with Reparations, as the basis of the Principle of Common but Differentiated Responsibilities and Respective Capacities.

 

Mr. President,

 

  1. The illegal Unilateral Coercive Measures must cease immediately, in order to guarantee Stability and Peace, as well as the fulfillment of climate goals, respecting the legitimate Right to Development of the families, peoples and nations of the world.

 

  1. Last Sunday, 7th November, the People of Nicaragua, once again, demonstrated their deep vocation for Peace and Democracy, having held free, fair and sovereign elections in an atmosphere of order and harmony, through which they decided to continue being a Free, Sovereign and Independent Nation, always having the Human Being at the main axis and the eradication of poverty and the protection and defense of our Mother Earth.

 

  • Taiwan is firmly committed to combating climate change and is actively responding to the global push for net zero emissions by 2050, therefore, we express our support for Taiwan to be included in the climate negotiation mechanisms of the UNFCCC Convention and the Paris Agreement.

 

  • Nicaragua is convinced that the most effective way to face the climate crisis is to fight against poverty, with human development, improving productivity under sustainable approaches and with an environment of cooperation and respectful collaboration between States and Societies.

 

  • The presence of the entire International Community, without exclusions, at this COP 26 is vital to achieve a world of Understanding, Peace, Justice, Solidarity and Sustainable Development, in Balance with Nature.
